This is just a rough sizing guide but here is a tip to help you choose Bonsai Wire for your trees
The wire should be around 1/3 the diameter of the trunk or branch. You can also pull around a 20mm length out of your roll and try to push the branch down with it, if the branch bends down the wire is strong enough for that branch, but if the wire bends and the branch stays in place you need a stronger gauge.
 

Copper Bonsai Wire Size Chart

#19 Gauge = 1mm

#17 Gauge = 1.4mm

#14 Gauge = 2mm

#12 Gauge = 2.6mm

#11 Gauge = 3mm

#9 Gauge = 3.6mm

#8 Gauge = 4mm

 

Note: Copper Wire is stronger then Aluminium so you may need a smaller Gauge then you would normally use with aluminium.

 

How Much Wire Is On Each Roll?

Aluminium

1mm - 100g = 47.2 m / 500g = 236m

1.5mm - 100g = 20.9m / 500g = 106m

2mm - 100g = 11.7m / 500g = 59m

2.5mm - 100g = 7.5 m  / 500g = 38m

3mm - 100g = 5.2 m / 500g = 26m

3.5mm - 100g = 3. 8m / 500g = 19m

4mm - 100g = 2.9m / 500g = 14m

5mm - 100g = 1.8m / 500g = 9m

6mm -  500g = 6m
