What are jin pliers used for?

Can i use regular pliers instead of bonsai jin pliers?

technically yes, but the issue with regular pliers builders use is they are bulky. Bonsai jin pliers are specially designed to work in and around the trees branching and have a much more narrow jaw. The handles are also elongated on the larger size to give you a much stronger bite.
